HILLSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH AND CHILD CARE CENTER 55238 ROAD 200, NORTH FORK, CALIFORNIA 93643
"To Know Christ and Make Him Known"

Our Beliefs

At Hillside Baptist Church we believe that the Bible is God's Word. We believe that salvation is found only in Jesus Christ. We believe that baptism is by immersion as an act of obedience for those who have already trusted Jesus Christ as Lord.

Doctrine (Statement of Faith)

SECTION 1. GOD'S WORD:

We believe that the Bible is the complete, infallible, written Word of God, sixty-six books in the Old and New Testaments, verbally and fully inspired in all parts and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct (II Tim. 3:16,17; II Pet. 1:19-21).

SECTION 2. GOD:

We believe that the Godhead exists as one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, of one essence, equal in divine power, perfection, and glory, and deserving precisely the same homage, confidence, and obedience (Gen. 1:1; Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19,20; Matt. 3:15-17; John 4:24; 10:30; II Cor. 13:14).

SECTION 3. JESUS CHRIST:

We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, manifested in the flesh by virgin birth. We believe in His miracles and teachings; that He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was resurrected bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, is preparing a place for us as our High Priest, and is coming again in a personal visible return to the earth (Isa. 7:14; Luke 1:35; 2:7-11; Matt. 1:18-23; John 1:1-14,29; Heb. 4:15; I Pet. 3:18; I Cor. 15:3-19; Acts 1:9-11; John 14:1-6).

SECTION 4. THE HOLY SPIRIT:

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, a divine, eternal person, having an intellect, emotions, and will of His own (Acts 5:3-4; Matt. 28:19; II Cor. 13:14; Heb. 3:7; John 15:26; 16:13-14; I Cor. 12:11; Eph. 4:30; I Cor. 2:11). We believe the present ministry of the Holy Spirit is restraining sin in the world by convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement. He also, in the present age, regenerates believers in Christ, baptizes them into the church, the body of Christ, indwells them permanently, seals them into the day of redemption, bestows spiritual gifts upon each one and fills those yielded to Him (John 3:8; 14:16; 15:26,27; 16:7-15; Rom. 8:9; I Cor. 6:19; 12:4-11,13; Eph. 1:13,14; 4:30; 5:18).

SECTION 5. MAN:

We believe that God created man in His own image and likeness. In Adam all mankind fell into sin with the result that all men are sinners, resulting in spiritual and physical death and all mankind is now sinful by nature and practice, unable to save himself from sin (Gen. 1:26-28; 2:7; 3:1-24; Rom. 3:9-25; 5:12-14; Eph. 2:3).

SECTION 6. SALVATION:

We believe that salvation is the free gift of God. It is bestowed upon all those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, resulting in regeneration by the Holy Spirit (Luke 13:3; 24:46,47; Mark 1:15; John 3:16; Acts 4:12; 13:38,39; 16:31; 20:21; 26:20; Rom. 4:4,5; 5:1; I Cor. 15:1-4; Eph. 2:8,9; Titus 3:5).

SECTION 7. SANCTIFICATION:

We believe that every believer is promised positional, progressive, and ultimate sanctification (John 17:14-17; I Cor. 6:11; Eph. 5:26,27; I Thess. 4:3,4; Heb. 10:10,14; I John 3:2).

SECTION 8. ETERNAL SECURITY AND ASSURANCE:

We believe that all who are born of the Holy Spirit through faith in Christ can have assurance of salvation and are eternally secure in Christ (John 5:24; 6:37; 10:27-29; 17:12; Rom. 5:1; 8:38,39; Eph. 4:30; Phil. 1:6; II Tim. 1:12; I John 5:13; John 6:47).

SECTION 9. THE CHURCH:

We believe that the Church, which is the Body of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born again persons of this present age. This body is manifest on earth in local churches where believers should assemble for corporate worship, including teaching, fellowship, prayer, and ministry (Matt. 16:18; Eph. 1:22, 23; 5:25-27; I Cor. 12:12-14; Acts 14:27; 20:17,28-32; I Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9; Heb. 10:24,25).

SECTION 10. ANGELS:

We believe that angels were originally created as holy creatures, but now exist as fallen and unfallen. Satan is a fallen angel (Psa. 103:20; Matt. 25:41; Eph. 6:11,12; Col. 1:16; I Tim. 3:6; 5:21; Heb. 1:4-14; Jude 6).

SECTION 11. FUTURE LIFE:

We believe that the believer, upon physical death, is immediately with the Lord. We believe in the blessed hope of the return of the Lord for His church, the resurrection of the body, the final judgement, the eternal felicity of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked (Matt. 24:29-31; 25:31-46; John 14:1-3; Phil. 1:21; I Thess. 1:10; 4:13-18; 5:4-10; II Thess. 2:6-9; Titus 2:13; Rev. 20:1-15; 22:20).

SECTION 12. THE CHRISTIAN LIFE:

We believe that every believer is to live a life of righteousness and good works, to be separated unto God from worldliness, maintain a godly home, settle differences between believers in the church, avoid carnality, exhibit the fruit and fullness of the Spirit and fulfill the Great Commission in making disciples of all the nations (Matt. 28:19,20; Acts 1:8; Rom. 12:1,2; I Cor. 6:1-8; Gal. 5:16-23; Eph. 2:8-10; 5:15-21; 6:4; I Pet. 4:10,11).

IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHAT YOU BELIEVE.
